part of the mindset suite
The Assessment for Mathematical Mindset was developed through an extensive literature review of the characteristics and attitudes of people with an exceptional mathematical mindset, including the academic research literature, popular literature, and more modern blogs that identified characteristics and attributes of people with an exceptional mathematical mindset.
We developed an extensive initial item bank that was subjected to several rounds of data collection and statistical analysis. For the final Mathematical Mindset assessment, three dimensions were finally identified as comprising exceptional Mathematical Mindset:
- Aptitude: These items assess a person’s natural aptitude and affinity for numbers and working with numbers
- Application: These items assess a person’s use of numbers and mathematics in their everyday life
- Passion: These items assess a person’s passion and interest for working with numbers
The Mathematical Mindset Assessment is relevant where a person will be required to work with numbers in their role. If the job revolves around a frequency of working with numbers and requires a high level of numerical aptitude, then this assessment can support you in understanding a persons suitability to such tasks.
This assessment performs exceptionally well when looking to learn more about someones affinity to numbers and calculations as a pre-cursor to a more comprehensive Numerical Reasoning Test.
